Program: Departure from V. Tarnovo 07:00 from the parking lot to the Summer Theater; Gabrovo- 07:45 from the bus stop on the square in front of the municipality /opposite Aprilovska Gymnasium/. For Sevlievo-pickup from Gabrovo.
Departure to the city of Kardzhali and the village of Sukhovo. Our afternoon will be dedicated to the beauties around this Rhodope village. We will walk to the rope bridge, which passes over the Kardjali dam and connects Sukhovo with the neighboring villages of Ridovo, Raincoat and others. Long in 180 meters and wide 1,5 meters. It is built from a metal structure and ropes. From the bridge there is a wonderful view of the dam and the surroundings. We continue to the NEWEST PANORAMIC SQUARE AT THE GREAT MEANDER OF KARDJALI DAM. THE NINE-METRE PLATFORM IS LOCATED IN THE LOCATION "ZAVOYA" and is the first of its kind in the Eastern Rhodopes. It was opened in NOVEMBER 2023. Beauty won't let us go.

Second day: 7:30 Breakfast. Departure for the village of Shiroko Pole. On an asphalt road, we go up by bus to the foot of the medieval fortress of Monyak.
It can be reached for 30-40 minutes at a leisurely pace on moderately steep terrain. The fortress is located on a rocky hill on the northern shore of the Studen Kladenets dam and is one of the best preserved in the Eastern Rhodopes. It was built in 12 – 13 century on the site of an old Roman building, related to the events of the Fourth Crusade. According to some historians, Henry of Flanders was elected emperor of the Latin Empire in the fortress of Mneakos/Moniac , after Kaloyan captured Baldwin at the Battle of Odrin.

After a short walk (around 30-40 i)we respond to the longest rope bridge in Bulgaria - 265 meters. It was built on both banks of the Studen Kladenets dam. It was originally built in the 1950s after the dam was built, and the last major renovation took place in the 1990s. More and more, this different beauty of the Eastern Rhodopes is gaining tourist popularity. On the opposite bank, the Thracian cult structure Chit Kaya rises above the village.
We part with the people of the village and head to the last site of the day - Višegrad fortress. The predecessor of the modern city of Kardzhali is the medieval city - fortress Visegrad, also called Upper Fortress.
After serious archaeological work by a team led by Prof. Nikolay Ovcharov in 2021. three towers are discovered, and inside - a three-level building. Supposed, that it was the seat of the governor/s of the Eastern Rhodopes.
Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.
Third day: 07:30h breakfast. Departure for the Thracian sanctuary of Tatul. There are different hypotheses about the history of this place. One is aimed at a tomb of a Thracian king. The other legend connects him with Orpheus.
Over time, Tatul has become a holy place for people, who honor the singer of the Rhodopes. The place is associated with the cult of the sun god, i.e. common cult of Dionysus and Orpheus. This is evidenced by the niches and the quadrangular sarcophagus, which are built on high,i.e. near the sun. In different periods, Tatul had other purposes. In the 6th-12th c. the sanctuary was used as a villa for Byzantine aristocrats. In 2011. The Thracian sanctuary of Tatul has been declared one of the wonders of Bulgaria.
Departure for Momchilgrad. Free time for lunch. Departure for Gabrovo, V. Tarnovo and Ruse. Arrival 20:30 h.
